Bengaluru Police Arrest West Bengal Man Over Alleged TTP Links, Plot Against Pakistan Army

Bengaluru: Bengaluru police have arrested a 25-year-old man from West Bengal, identified as Asaful Mallik, over alleged links to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and a suspected plot to carry out retaliatory attacks against the Pakistan Army.

Mallik, a resident of Naupara village in North 24 Parganas district, was taken into custody from the Bommasandra Industrial Area on August 11 after police received information about his activities. He had been working as a security guard at a private company in Bengaluru's Jigani area since December 2025.

According to police, Mallik allegedly made contact through Facebook with a person identified as Imran Ahinder, based in Afghanistan and believed to be linked to the TTP, and had sought help travelling to Afghanistan, including applying for a visa. Police said he appeared to have been influenced by perceived grievances against the Pakistan Army.

A case has been registered at Hebbagodi police station under Section 113(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, relating to conspiracy and facilitation of a terrorist act. Investigators are examining his online communications, financial transactions and travel plans. These are allegations under investigation; Mallik's guilt or innocence has not been legally established.
