India's EV Retail Sales Hit Record 3.28 Lakh Units in July, Nearly One in Eight Vehicles Now Electric

New Delhi: India's electric vehicle retail sales touched an all-time high of 3,27,901 units in July, up more than 66 per cent year-on-year, according to data released by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA).

The surge meant nearly one in every eight vehicles retailed in the country during the month was electric. Electric two-wheelers led the growth, crossing the two-lakh-unit mark for the first time, with sales rising 88.3 per cent year-on-year to 2,04,362 units and market share climbing to 11.2 per cent from 7.7 per cent a year earlier.

TVS Motor retained the top spot in the two-wheeler segment with 55,499 units, followed by Bajaj Auto at 45,613 units and Ather Energy at 30,357 units, while Ola Electric's sales fell 23.5 per cent to 14,106 units.

Electric commercial vehicles recorded the sharpest growth, with sales surging nearly 181 per cent to 3,556 units and market share more than doubling to 3.57 per cent. Tata Motors led the segment with 1,306 units.

FADA Vice President Sai Giridhar said the numbers showed EV adoption was no longer a future projection but a market reality, with fleet electrification moving from pilots to purchase orders.
